I would appreciate your advice on the following : most productive question forms, scoring cut offs, order of questions on charts one and two and any tips your experience can provide. Bill2E Member	posted 09-28-2005 10:23 AM The SKY test is used to determine degree of involvement with a crime or incident. It is not a stand alone examination (you don't determine deception based on the SKY exam). You take any question the subject showes significant response to and conduct a specific examination. Because it is not a confirmatory examination, cut offs are not extremly important. I would use the Backster Method, since the SKY is a Backster format. IP: Logged
Ted Todd Member	posted 09-28-2005 01:15 PM Hyper-V The SKY test is an excellent test when you want to determine if your suspect has some indirect involvement with the target crime. It is often used as a follow up to a specific issue test. Questions are scored vertically and are reviewed with the subject in the order they will be asked. Hope this helps Ted IP: Logged
hyper ventilation Member	posted 09-28-2005 04:44 PM Thank you both for your kind advice. having to use s-k-y today, I used Backster's format. it turned out very well. However the score of the last relevant with only one control preceeding it (The weaker one) turned out much lower than the other relevants, with all the examinees. did any of you notice this phenomenon in this format? and another question , do you switch the position of the relevans and controls after each chart, and if so, how ? Ted Todd Member	posted 09-28-2005 05:16 PM Hyper V Since the Backster scoring method dictates that you compare to the weakest control, you don't really have a choice on question 34(the last one) because you only have the one control to score against. Since question 34 involves other possibily limited involvement, it is not unusual to see a weaker response to that question. Also, if you were to change the format by moving the relevants between charts, you would no longer have a traditional Backster SKY exam. Ted IP: Logged
